Florida Region “Best of the Beach” Event Wins Major Award

Florida Region of USA Volleyball recognized by SportsEvents Magazine

The Florida Pro Best of the Beach wins Best Live Event of 2020, in the Bonus Category, from annual peer-nominated contest. Eustis, FL –March 22, 2021 – The inaugural Florida Pro Best of the Beach event was hosted at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares, Florida, over three days during November 6-8, 2020. Hickory Point Beach is a 21-court sand volleyball complex that has hosted more than sixty major beach volleyball events (regional, national and international) since opening in 2014, but the Florida Pro Best of The Beach event was the first of its kind for the area that featured many of the nation’s top professional beach volleyball athletes and awarded $60,000 in prize money. The pro beach volleyball event was safely produced by the Florida Region of USA Volleyball during the pandemic in late 2020 and attracted several thousand attendees per day. Steve Bishop, Executive Director & President of the Florida Region of USA Volleyball commented, “This recognition is very much appreciated. There were many amazing individuals and companies that made the event possible, and we are grateful for their support. The other events nominated in this category are well-known and I am honored to see professional beach volleyball get the nod for this readers’ choice award from SportsEvents Magazine. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this Florida event.”

Bishop praised the Miami Volleyball Academy, Visit Lake and the Norelli Family Foundation for assistance and support and he thanked partners such as Molten, Smack Sportswear, Regenexx, SpikeNet, Tim Britt Photography, Rx Massage Therapy, BracketPal, BallerTV and Rock Tape for helping to make the event a success.
