AVP Returns to Manhattan

The AVP Manhattan Beach Open kicks off this week! This Thursday through Sunday, the best beach volleyball players in the nation will compete to win the iconic tournament and get their names on the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Smack was founded on the sands of Manhattan Beach, has had offices in Hermosa, and currently resides in Redondo. We love seeing our athletes compete locally in their custom, high-performance beach volleyball bikinis and board shorts.

Sean Rosenthal and partner Trevor Crabb are coming off of their second place finish in AVP Hermosa. We’re hoping to watch the Olympian battle his way back to the finals again, wearing his two pairs of custom sublimated boardies as part of the Smack Sportswear “Rosie” Signature Line. Stay tuned for social media giveaways of the new gear! Though Manhattan isn’t his home beach, Rosie’s Raiders will surely be in full force cheering Sean onto Sunday.

Jenny Kropp will be blocking balls in her Smack custom bikinis as well. She and partner Janelle Allen finished an impressive 5th in AVP Hermosa–even though she stopped competing due to a torn meniscus in each knee. Still, we’ll be on the lookout for her and partner Heather Hughes to make some great plays and win some matches. 

Kim Smith is the newest player to join the group of #teamsmack athletes this weekend. She and partner Janelle Allen will start battling in the Main Draw on Friday. “I’m stoked to be representing Smack for the first time at the legendary MBO this weekend!” Said Kim. “I’m sure my new gear will bring me luck. Come out and support all your AVP athletes this weekend!” 

Qualifier athletes repping Smack Sportswear will include Christian Honer, Christina Vucich, Agnieszka Pregowska, Bruno Amorim, and more. Look out for them taking over Smack’s Instagram Thursday, and good luck to them as they battle to make it through to Friday.
